Male Fertility Tests
What Tests you should Look Out For
Female fertility tests, explained clearly—so you know what to do, when to do it, and what your results mean.
Semen Analysis & Sperm Health
The first and most important test to evaluate sperm count, movement, shape, and overall semen parameters. You’ll also be guided on correct preparation (abstinence window, timing, and repeat testing if needed) so results are accurate and actionable.
Hormones, Lifestyle & Root Causes
When semen parameters are abnormal (or symptoms suggest it), hormone testing and targeted evaluation can identify the “why”—such as hormonal imbalance, thyroid/prolactin issues, metabolic factors, or lifestyle triggers. The focus stays practical: what can be improved, and how long it may take to see change.
Advanced Male Fertility Screening
For cases needing deeper clarity—recurrent IVF failure, unexplained infertility, repeated losses, or persistent abnormal semen results. This may include advanced sperm function testing, infection screening, and imaging to detect correctable causes (like varicocele) and guide the right next step.
Our 4-Step Mitra Pathway

Listen & Understand
We begin with a detailed conversation about your health, cycles, lifestyle, and previous reports. No rushed 5-minute consults.
Test & Map
We recommend only the tests that matter for your case—so we can identify the real blockers early (for both partners), without unnecessary panels or confusion.

Questions you might be afraid to ask (but should).
What do male fertility tests actually check?
They typically assess sperm health (count, movement, shape), semen quality, and—when needed—hormones, infections, and correctable causes like varicocele.
When should we consider male fertility testing?
If you’ve been trying for 6–12 months (or 6 months if the female partner is 35+), or earlier if there’s a history of smoking/alcohol use, fever/heat exposure, testicular injury, varicocele, infections, or prior fertility concerns.
What is the main test for male fertility?
A semen analysis. It evaluates key parameters that influence natural conception and guides what to do next.
How do I prepare for a semen analysis?
Typically: 2–5 days abstinence, avoid fever/sauna/hot baths and alcohol around the test window, and follow the clinic’s collection instructions for accuracy.
Is one semen test enough?
Not always. Sperm parameters can vary—repeat testing may be advised if results are borderline or unexpected.
If results are abnormal, does it mean infertility?
Not necessarily. Many factors are treatable or improvable. The next step is identifying the cause and choosing the most effective plan—lifestyle optimization, medical support, or assisted options when required.
